Planning a Boston proposal

Late spring through early autumn is the easiest time for an outdoor proposal; in winter, choose a warm, glass-roofed or indoor setting. Here, we would look first at The Public Garden, Arnold Arboretum or The Charles River Esplanade.

Whatever you choose, plan the ring first: order a few weeks ahead, or a little more for a piece made to order, and our concierge will time the insured delivery so it arrives with days to spare.

The season

A ring for a Boston winter

A ring that fits on a warm July evening can feel loose in January. Size at room temperature, late in the day, and if you are between sizes, our concierge will help you choose.

For daily wear under gloves, scarves and heavy coats, bezel and low settings are the most practical. A high, open setting shows off the diamond beautifully, and asks for a quick check of the prongs after the winter.
